I’m so excited to share with everyone that I was selected to be a brand ambassador for Lucille Roberts! It could not come at a better time. I know with the new year everyone’s resolution is about losing weight or getting healthier. I’m no different except it’s more of an ongoing thing not just for the new year.
That is why I was so excited to be able to work out, get trained at Lucille Roberts and be able to share with everyone my experience. I’ll be completely honest when I tell you that my excitement quickly turned into nervousness. Everything is easier said than done. Work out and watch what you eat. OK, I haven’t really worked out in a long time, I’m really out of shape and my eating habits really doesn’t help. My whole lifestyle needs to change. This is going to be hard.
Yesterday I started my first day knowing it was going to be hard. I’m not going to say my first day went smoothly because it didn’t. It started off great, I love the location of the Lucille Roberts in Bala Cynwyd. Parking was easy and it wasn’t too crowded, two things that would really deter me from actually getting up and going. I decided to warm up before my training session on the elliptical, pulled out my iPhone to listen to music and my worst fear happened. My headset wasn’t plugged in all the way! I kept increasing the volume wondering why I couldn’t hear anything. OMG my phone was so loud and I’m standing there with my head plugs in my ears! So yeah, I acted like that never happened.
I’ve never worked with a trainer before but I was comfortable with someone telling me how to work out. I’m given 30 mins with Ben, a personal trainer at Lucille Roberts. I thought since it was our first session it would be quick and simple. I WAS WRONG. We sat for a few minutes to discuss my goals. Which didn’t take long because I just basically pointed out most of my body. My goals are not to be skinny, I love my curves but I could use to lose a few or 25lbs. I want to fit in my clothes better and just be comfortable in my own skin.
After my goals were established he didn’t waste any time putting me to work. We started with the dreaded squats! I felt muscles I never knew was there. It burned, it a good way. I knew it was working and I was utilizing every second of my 30 mins. During my session there were times where I just wanted to give up. Keep in mind this is only my first session, so you know I’m in trouble. We just about worked every part of my body. It felt like the longest 30 mins of my life. Looking back, it wasn’t bad. I’m hooked and I can’t wait to get back and push my body. Although I’m completely sore all over, I’m struggling to type my arms are so sore. It’s a good sore. It means my muscles were put to work after a long vacation
I got some great advice from the Lucille Roberts Blog about how to help ease the soreness with a LiveRite Strawberry Banana Protein Shake. My husband also gave me the same advice about drinking a protein shake post workout so I know I’m in good hands!
There it goes friends, that’s the story of my first day. Stay tuned as I share with you my progress. Wish me luck!

Congratulations on getting started! Way to stick it out and push through the discomfort. You’re going to be feeling so great pretty soon! (Oh, and no worries about the loud music coming from your phone. It happens. No judgments at this gym-and that includes phone faux paus!)
Keep up the great work! We’re happy to have you on board.
