Alright folks, when Keurig told me that they were coming out with a new version of the Keurig I asked them straight up, what in the world could make Keurig better? Keurig 2.0 has all the same features that you love about this personal brewer EXCEPT there’s now an option to brew an entire carafe for the times you have guest over or for my family who enjoys gigantic mugs of coffee.
I was excited to be able to try out the new Keurig 2.0 Brewer version K300 which is the lowest price point out of all 3 versions. My first impression was that the size was comparable to my previous Keurig and fit perfectly on my counter on top of my K-Cup tray holder. Set up was super easy. Basically plug in and add water. Their touch screen gives it a sleek look and to brew all you do is hit the big flashing Keurig button. It also gives you the ability to dispense hot water!
I recently ordered some black tea k-cups and I was excited to see how it brewed in the Keurig 2.0. I was surprised to see that it was unable to brew because it wasn’t an official Keurig brand k-cup. I was pretty disappointed because I had just bought these k-cups and I really didn’t know there was a difference between the them. So please keep that in mind that your old non-official k-cups WILL NOT work in this new version. What makes them official you ask? They have a white border around the tops of the k-cup which the brewer will be able to scan. Luckily my brewer came with a box of sample official k-cups.
After popping in an official k-cup I was ready to go! A big difference was that the touch screen gives you an option of the size and if you’d like to make your coffee “Stronger” before each brew so it truly gives you a personalized option. The brewing itself is much quieter than the previous version which is a huge thumbs up for me. There was nothing bad to say about it!
Next I gave the carafe option a try. I love the look and size of the carafe. It is also very easy to clean. To brew you just put the carafe under the brewer and pop in a large k-cup. The taste is just as good as if I brewed an individual k-cup.
