It feels like this winter may never end. We’ve endured more than our share of not not only the extreme cold weather but also snow and crippling ice. During cold and flu season it’s more important than ever to help prevent spreading germs to keep our families healthy.

We all know the importance of frequently washing our hands in addition to disinfecting high traffic surfaces where germs can be easily spread. Lysol has kind enough to send me their Healthy Touch™ No-Touch Hand Soap System and Disinfecting Wipes to help keep my family healthy. Both products kills 99.9% of bacteria and viruses. The best thing about these products was how easy it was to use. With my busy lifestyle it’s great to know that it’s not hard to help keep my family healthy.

So what’s the difference between disinfecting and cleaning? Cleaning and disinfecting aren’t one in the same: cleaning only removes germs from surfaces, whereas disinfecting actually destroys them. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) The flu virus can live on surfaces for up to 48 hours, so it’s important to disinfect regularly.

Frequent hand washing is a key way to preventing cold and flu. However, one study found that the majority of respondents (53%) only wash their hands for 10 seconds or less after using the toilet when the optimal time for washing is 20 seconds. (Global Hygiene Council)

Lysol has been a brand that I’ve trusted to cleaning my home and now is a brand I trust to help keep us healthy.
