Morey’s Pier in Wildwood NJ is all the fun without the sand!

Every year we visit the Jersey shore. We’ve visited all the different shore towns but the only shore town we always have to visit each year is Wildwood. Visiting Wildwood is something my husband grew up visiting in the summer and now it is where our family goes. We’ve visited Wildwood before and now after hurricane Sandy and the shore is alive more than ever! They want you to know that they are indeed stronger than the storm and you should be happy to hear that Morey’s Pier didn’t skip a beat!

On our recent visit to Wildwood we stayed at the Starlux Hotel which just won this year’s Best of Philly Best Shore Getaway! I was thrilled to learn this because we had such a pleasant experience at Starlux. This trip to Wildwood was our first family trip as a family of four. We are traveling for the first time with our son and we were happy that our room accommodated all the needs that come with a family with small children. Another added bonus of the Starlux was location. Everything from food and fun was within walking distance.

During our stay we easily walked to and from the boardwalk to experience all the fun at all three of Morey’s Piers and their beachfront waterparks. This was the first time we went to Wildwood and did NOT go to the beach! I know! We were able to cool off and had the time of our lives at all the piers and waterparks. Who would have thought, all the fun down the shore without the sand? During our time on the piers it decided to downpour, a lot… several times. Do you think that put a damper on our fun? We just went into one of the indoor arcades and continued the fun. Plus, the rainbow after the rain makes a great photo opp.

This year Morey’s Piers introduced artBOX located on Adventure Pier, a 10,000 square foot interactive artists’ colony crafted from 11 re-purposed shipping containers featuring five local artist studios, a café serving fresh sushi, a museum shop, and live musical entertainment. Two of the artists Ed and Hong Peahota just happen to be my childhood neighbors so please check them out, their work is amazing!

In addition to the fun, rides and games we added amazing memories, oh and food. Let’s not forget the food. In addition to the Soggy Dollar there’s Johnson’s Popcorn, salt water taffy, Curley’s Fries, Mack’s Pizza, fudge and so much more! I actually had the pleasure with speaking with Will Morey and I was with others around me that had never been to Wildwood. Being from Philly, Will Morey told me straight up “If you’ve never been to Wildwood before you should be ashamed of yourself” I had to laugh because it’s true. It’s a Philly thing. I’d also invite others to experience this “Philly thing” and make it your own family’s new tradition like it is for our family.
