The uplifting musical comedy “Freckleface Strawberry The Musical” will light up Upper Darby Summer Stage. Based on the bestselling book written by actress Julianne Moore, “Freckleface Strawberry” features toe-tapping songs and dances and explores important lessons such as embracing one’s differences. Performances are July 25, 26, and 27 at 10:30 a.m. and on July 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center.
Tickets are affordably priced at $8-$12 and members of The Upper Darby Performing Arts Center save $1. Tickets may be purchased at udpac.org or by calling the box office at 610.622.1189. The Upper Darby Performing Arts Center is located at 601 N. Lansdowne Avenue, Drexel Hill, PA., minutes from the Main Line and Center City.
The title character, Strawberry (Ali Buchanan of Upper Darby), will do anything possible to get rid of her freckles. With the help of her classmates Danny (Kenneth Bruce of Drexel Hill), Jake (Tom Geiger of Clifton Heights) and others, Strawberry learns to embrace her freckles and believes they make her unique.
The show runs one hour with no intermission and is ideal for ages four and up. The theater offers free parking and free babysitting on site for the very young. Young audience members are encouraged to come early for a fun activity and to stay after the show for a meet-and-greet with the performers.
