Christmas Village in Philadelphia returns to LOVE Park for its 12th season to put Center City in the mood for the winter holidays. From Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 28, 2019) through Christmas Eve (Tuesday, December 24, 2019), Philadelphia’s largest holiday attraction will transform LOVE Park into an authentic open-air German Christmas market with holiday sights and sounds featuring thousands of twinkling lights, festive Christmas decorations, live music at the main stage, children’s activities and European food and drinks.
Check our event for special announcements, weekday/weekend highlights and programming.
Preview Weekend – Nov 23 & 24
At the preview weekend visitors will have the chance to experience Christmas Village in Philadelphia a few days early. Once there, they can walk through the authentic German winter wonderland while the market, event producers and its vendors are getting ready for the new season.
1st Weekend – Christkind Weekend – Nov 30 & Dec 1
On Sunday, Dec 1, we will officially kick off 2019’s Christmas Village Season. Once again, we have invited the Original German Christkind from Nuremberg, accompanied by official Philadelphia representatives, to officially kick-off our holiday event. Choirs and drumming bands will provide an authentic and festive atmosphere.
2nd Weekend – Mascot Weekend – Dec 7
Our very own mascot Phil will invite his mascot friends from “Mascots for a Cure” and “A Moment of Magic” to Christmas Village in Philadelphia! All mascots will take part in a parade around City Hall, Dilworth Park and Love Park. Once the parade is over, visitors will have the chance to take pictures with their favorite mascots all around Christmas Village. To finish the day, the mascots will go wild in a Mascot Dance-Off! Be sure to cheer for your favorite and to vote for them.
3rd Weekend – German American Weekend – Dec 14 & 15
On our third weekend, we will celebrate German American Heritage. German American Weekend will feature a variety of German style performances at the main stage and a beautiful lantern parade on Dec 14. Visitors will be sure to enjoy an authentic German experience with delicious German food and beverages from the German Grill.
On Sunday, December 15th from 3:00pm to 5:00pm, Christmas Village will host its first German Games competition! Contestants can team up in groups or participate as lone warriors in three exciting disciplines: Bratwurst eating contest, beer stein holding competition and a Christmas costume contest! There will be a single and a team competition for each event. The winning individual and team will receive a trophy along with a gift package containing a variety of Christmas Village products. Interested in participating? Sign-up by sending an email with your name and contact details to email@example.com.
4th Weekend – Charity Weekend – Dec 15/16
Together with “Make-A-Wish”, the last weekend is once again focusing on the giving spirit that comes along with Christmas time. All month long, our visitors will have the chance to donate by buying a hanger for our Wish Wall, which can be purchased at the info-booth. After writing their personal wish on it, people can hang it up on our Wish Wall to be seen by everyone. Don’t forget to purchase one of our “Make-A-Wish” balloons to send your wishes on a journey or to try a piece of the delicious “Make-A-Wish” cake which helps support a good cause.
